Time difference
Sydney's standard time zone is GMT +10 hours, however until April 1st 2012, Daylight savings will be in place, where an hour is added to the time, GMT +11 hours.
Tax and tipping
The unit of currency in Australia, is Australian Dollars (AUD $) and only Australian Dollars will be accepted. ATM, cash machines, can be found quite regularly around Sydney. Tipping is not expected, however, if you do wish to tip someone for good services, particularly in the hospitality industry, then a small tip would be appropriate.
Australia has a Goods and Service Tax (GST) which is a 10% tax on most goods and service transactions in Australia. All prices shown include the GST in the amount which will mean you will not be charged any extra when you pay your bill.
Internet connection
Most hotels will have internet connection available in the rooms, however, it will be at a small cost. Some cafes may have free wifi available, and internet cafes are located around the city.
Smoking
Smoking indoors or in enclosed area's in NSW is considered Illegal, fines apply if caught.
Conference Dress Code
The conference dress code is smart casual. Air conditioning within the venue can be cold so please ensure to bring a jumper.

Safety The City of Sydney works with police, business, residents and other stakeholders to increase safety in the city. Please note that it is safe to travel on your own during the day and night in well popualated and well lit areas. Public transport also has security for both day and night. Cabs are available if prefferred. The area surrounding the conference is a well populated area and is common to many tourists from all over the world.
